Shared Sauna - Evening Aufguss Ritual
Flåm location only. Available winter and summer.
Winter: 18:30–19:30 Monday–Saturday, 2nd November–31st March.
Summer: 21:30–22:30 daily, 1st June–31st August.
During the short winter days, the ritual takes place in pitch darkness, with crisp air and cold fjord temperatures outside. In summer, long evenings mean there’s still light over the fjord and mountains during the session. Two very different atmospheres, but the ritual remains the same: a chance to slow down, warm up and settle into the evening after a day of exploring or travelling.
The Evening Aufguss Ritual is a 60-minute guided sauna experience, limited to a maximum of eight guests. Led by our Sauna Master, the heat builds through two aufguss rounds using ice balls infused with essential oils, music and fan movements that carry the heat and scent through the sauna.
Between rounds, step outside into the fresh air or take a dip in the Aurlandsfjord. Refreshing in summer, properly cold in winter!
Towels, seat pads and our natural body scrub are included. No prior sauna experience is needed.
Make an evening of it with a 2-course dinner at Ægir Gastropub after the ritual. Click to explore the package.
-
The ritual begins promptly at 6:30PM (18:30) during winter and at 9:30 PM (21:30) during summer.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to allow time to check in and get changed. As the experience begins together as one group, guests arriving late may unfortunately miss the opening part of the ritual.
The full experience lasts 60 minutes, including time for changing before and after your sauna session.

Aufguss is a traditional sauna ritual where a Sauna Master pours water mixed with essential oils onto the hot sauna stones and then uses a towel or fan to circulate the rising heat through the room.
These rhythmic movements spread the heat and scent evenly, creating waves of warmth and a more immersive sauna experience. At FjordSauna, our aufguss rituals include carefully selected music and scents to create the perfect atmosphere.
No prior sauna experience needed.

FjordSauna has two stunning locations: Flåm and Aurland — both set right on the fjord with panoramic views, steamy saunas, and access to refreshing dips in the water.
In Flåm, our saunas are boat-inspired floating cabins, moored by ropes at Piers 10 and 11
In Aurland, the sauna is built on a large floating dock, connected to shore by a short bridge
Both saunas are stationary — they are always docked
Each sauna includes:
An electric heater
A changing room with private stall
Panoramic windows to take in the scenery
Direct access to the fjord for swimming
